At Persona, we love our pets; in fact, we love them so much that we decided to hand the microphone over to them for National Pet Day last year. By paw-pular demand, we decided to sit down with another group of our furry friends for a spooky Halloween edition and ask them about their favorite tricks and treats. Let's dig in!

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dressed as a pumpkin

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Stormy! I'm a four year old, continent-trotting, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who enjoys going wherever my people go. My full suite of travel services include sampling all snacks offered by strangers, pre-greeting strangers to ensure proper petting techniques are sound, and preventing any awful squirrels from encroaching on my family's personal space. I enjoy day trips with my people, hiking the hills of New Hampshire with my people, dinner al fresco with my people, napping with my people, and generally just being next to my people.

What is your go-to trick?

I'm pretty good at making any human rub my belly on demand. They're pretty trainable. Oh, you meant MY go-to trick? It's definitely fetch.

What is your favorite treat?

Bacon sort of makes me lose my mind. Just a little bit.

What are you most afraid of?

My people traveling without me — they really don't do well without my constant attention.

Wheaten Terrier dressed as a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport) train

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Welcome aboard! I'm Winston, a nine year old Wheaten Terrier - Poodle (aka Whoodle) rescue. I'm originally from Fresno, was adopted in San Francisco, and currently live in Oakland. I enjoy chasing and barking at squirrels in the neighborhood. I despise baths, but I do have perfect recall for every store in the area that gives out dog treats. I'm well behaved 99.99% of the time — the other 0.01% is when I'm around soft-serve ice cream.

What is your go-to trick?

Sitting pretty usually gets me treats from strangers, but I can also shake, roll over, and play dead.

What is your favorite treat?

Easy — whatever is on the sidewalk when my humans aren't looking.

What are you most afraid of?

My humans giving me dinner late (or not early enough). Just the thought of it gives me the heebiejeebies!

Orange kitten dressed as a cowboy

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Howdy! My name is Ollie (or Oliver when I'm in trouble), and I'm Squeaks's younger brother! When I'm not working a shift at the biscuit factory, you can usually find me crashing Zoom meetings, relaxing on my back, asking for cuddles, or sleeping on my favorite bed (my hooman).

What is your go-to trick?

I like to attack Squeaks right when he exits the litter box, hehe!

What is your favorite treat?

Anything edible, TBH. But when I get those squeeze treats that come in a tube, I get so excited that I puncture the packaging with my teeth and it gets everywhere!

What are you most afraid of?

Oooh, that's a tough one. Probably either an empty food bowl or never getting a turn with the one brain cell that all orange cats share. 🙀 (Hooman assures me I have not had my moment with it yet.)

Pitbull mix wearing a Halloween bandana

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Happy Howl-oween! I'm Margot, a seven year old rescue pit mix living in San Francisco! But don't let my age fool you, I get told that I look and act like a puppy all the time. I love treats, cuddling with humans, and playing chase in the park. You can usually find me snuggled up in a pile of pillows or lying in a ray of sunshine.

What is your go-to trick?

Oh man, I have so many it's hard to pick! I really like 'spin,' and I can go so fast! But my most impressive trick is probably how I can tell my left paw from my right paw... my mom can tell me which paw to lift so I can untangle myself from my leash. Cool, right?

What is your favorite treat?

GREENIES!!! Bully sticks are a close second, but let's be honest... I've never smelled a treat I didn't like.

What are you most afraid of?

The vacuum is so, so scary! Luckily my mom is super nice and doesn't use it when I'm in the house, but if I hear one, I'll crawl under the bed until the coast is clear.

Maine Coon mix dressed as a flower

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Aloe there! My name is Pru, and I am named after "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," a poem by T.S. Eliot. I am a three year old Maine Coon mix and was born in California but now live in a high-rise in downtown Chicago. Alternate aliases include: Bo, Little Bo Peep, Little Man, and "What are you doing get out of there."

What is your go-to trick?

Does napping count? I’m really good at that, and it is my go-to.

What is your favorite treat?

My favorite treat is dust — specifically, dust located behind the air conditioning unit. I like to stick one floofy paw behind the A/C unit, wiggle it around until it’s covered in dust, and then eat it.

What are you most afraid of?

The vacuum. It is my arch nemesis and someday I will conquer my fears and its evil sound.

Maltese Poodle Bichon Mix dressed as a fireman

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

De-light-ed to be here! I'm Norman, a pint-sized, immunized, and highly prized Maltese Poodle Bichon Mix. I love sleeping all day (especially beside my mom), long walks in the park, fluffy beds, fresh laundry, RICE, and food that is generally very bad for me. I really love all human beings. I dislike all dogs. I also don't like birds, but most of all, I hate the V.E.T.

What is your go-to trick?

Giving high-fives. Also, I actually go to my bed when I'm told to.

What is your favorite treat?

I’ll say two so you have options to choose from when you come meet me: watermelon and bacon.

What are you most afraid of?

Loneliness (because being this cute every day for my owners is a one paw-son job), and my mom when she gets mad at me (even though I am 100% innocent — just look at my face!).

White cat sitting in a box

O-hi-o! My name is Kya, and I am a 17 year old rescue cat that has traveled all over the country and lived in many different places. I spent several years in Oakland with my owner before we moved back home to Akron. My favorite things are heated blankets and beds, warm hearths in front of fireplaces, warm laps, and any food that falls onto the kitchen floor. I've mellowed out in my old age, and am enjoying a more relaxed, leisurely life now. Sometimes you might see me in a Zoom meeting!

What is your go-to trick?

I somehow learned how to use lever-type door knobs, and I also discovered how to open doors in the apartment. This has made things really interesting for my owners.

What is your favorite treat?

Prosciutto (fallen on the floor or not), pretty much any kind of cheese, and pepperoncini rings.

What are you most afraid of?

I am fearless: riding in the car across the country twice was nothing to me, and I slept on the front passenger seat most of the way... in the sun of course.

Havanese dog dressed as a pirate

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Ahoy! My name is Teddy, but my full name is Teddy B. Gordon. I am a one year old Havanese. I love long walks on the beach, digging holes, and wrestling with any other dogs that like to play. My perfect day involves lots of snuggles on the couch after playing with all of my friends at the park. I also love to be social at parties, though I prefer hosting people so that I can show them my favorite toys.

What is your go-to trick?

I like to take my owner’s socks and hide them all throughout the house, especially in the couch cushions or in my dog bed.

What is your favorite treat?

Chicken. Must I say more?!

What are you most afraid of?

Like any other reasonable paw-son, I am very scared of the vacuum. I hate it.

Cocker Spaniel dressed as a chicken

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Did someone say chicken? My name is Monte, and I’m a 13 year old Cocker Spaniel. I’m a pro at guarding the house against delivery people and supervising my humans in the kitchen. After a long day of hard work, I like to reward myself with some quality naps. I’m also a champion sleeper! It's a ruff life.

What is your go-to trick?

I am really, really good at doing a flip.

What is your favorite treat?

Freeze-dried chicken hearts!

What are you most afraid of?

This is a scary one: running out of treats. The horror!

Stay tuned as we continue featuring more Personerds (and their furry overlords) in this ongoing series!
